India's 2025 GDP and Women in Workplace - McKinsey Study

McKinsey Study was conducted in 95 countries
India's Gross Domestic Product in 2025 and participation of women in workplace - McKinsey MGI's study. The Study by McKinsey was conducted in 95 countries.
As per the Report, their full-potential scenario says that for India gender parity could add $2.9 trillion (Rupees 203 Lakh Crore or Rs. 20,30,00,00,00,00,000 or Rupees 2 Thousand Thirty Kharab) to India’s 2025 GDP. Their lower end scenario (which they have defined and named it as best-in-region-scenario) says that gender parity could add $700 billion (Rupees 49 Lakh Crore or Rs. 4,90,00,00,00,00,000 or Rupees Four Hundred Ninety Kharab) to India's GDP 2025. Gender parity could add to World's GDP too. They were spurred towards this study by the oncoming 20th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration.
India's GDP would expand by 27% if its women participated in the workplace at rate same as men. India has one of the largest gender gaps but it also has the biggest relative scope.
75% of global unpaid work is done by women. Economic benefits emanating from equality in work can create momentum toward a further narrowing of gender gaps. For India and also for the world it is important to first understand the gender equality landscape in sufficient detail to be able to prioritize action. Then that knowledge is to be used to bring about change.
----------------
".. India could add 60% to 2025 GDP by bridging gender gap at work: McKinsey
A new study conducted in 95 countries places a definitive value to increased women’s participation in the workplace .."
".. India can increase its 2025 gross domestic product (GDP), estimated at $4.83 trillion, by between 16% and 60% simply by enabling women to participate in the economy on par with men, according to a new study by the McKinsey Global Institute (MGI). .."
".. The September 1995 Beijing Declaration was an attempt to advance women’s rights, such as the right to live free from violence, to go to school, to participate in decision-making and to equal pay for equal work. .."
".. Using 15 indicators of gender equality, the MGI report says it is “the most comprehensive attempt to date to estimate the size of economic potential from achieving gender parity and map gender inequality”. .."
".. Gender parity is lowest in South Asia (excluding India) and highest in North America and Oceania. .."
".. The workplace gender gap manifests itself in three ways.
First, women do not participate in the same numbers as men ..
Second, women work fewer hours than men .. And finally, women are disproportionately represented in lower productivity sectors such as agriculture. Shifting women into higher productive sectors such as .."
".. “A lot of work done by women is invisible, unquantified, unrecognized and unrecognizable,” says economist Ritu Dewan, president of the Indian Association of Women’s Studies. .."
".. Companies such as Flipkart, Vodafone, Accenture and Godrej recently announced enhanced maternity leave policies, .."
".. focusing on gender diversity .. increased paternity leave .. have women employee mentorship programmes, a women’s network and training and leadership development for its women employees, .."
".. “economic development alone is not sufficient for women to achieve their full potential”. For instance, while violence against women does tend to decrease as per capita GDP increases, it remains a global priority issue where women are not immune from violence even in the richest economies.
The relationship between gender equality at work and overall economic development is even more nuanced. .."
".. Any strategy to bridge gender gaps will need to recognize significant variations in inequality within countries. In India, for instance, the issue of sex ratio is largely concentrated in the north, while child marriage is an issue that plagues the east. Labour force participation shows larger gaps for urban women at 22%, against 38% for rural women. .."

Futuristic Tokyo Olympic Games 2020

8 reasons why 2020 Olympics will be most futuristic
Emerging Tech in Japan could change the world
In 1964 Tokyo Olympics, shinkansen was debuted. Emerging tech in Japan could change the world. They give 8 reasons why 2020 Olympics will be most futuristic.
1. Village of Robots
They will install robots around the city. They are sure that we are moving towards a ‘universal future society’ where robots and information technologies assist humans. Helpful, personal, polite robots will 'coexist' everywhere.
2. Instant Language Translation
The government offers a real-time translation app that accommodates 27 languages for text translation, including Urdu and Bhutan’s Dzongkha. These services could be useful even across the globe.
3. Self-Driving Taxis
Tokyo is the biggest, densest city. It's got 4,600 people per square mile. Olympics will add to the no. of people on the streets everyday.
4. TV Broadcasts in Glorious 8K
Made-in-Japan resolution offers screen resolution of 7,680 by 4,320 pixels, or 16 times as many pixels as current HD. It's Japan which is bringing 8K to the world.
5. Algae As Fuel Source
Some benefits are touted of using algae as a fuel source for jets and buses. Algae plants next to carbon-spewing coal plants can decrease the emissions level in vicinity. It is expensive though. Boeing actually wants to help Japan fly Olympic tourists to the island nation on jets fueled by algae.
6. Hydrogen-Powered Buses and Buildings
The entire Olympic Village will be hydrogen-powered with fuel cell-powered buses, press lounges, and athlete dorms. An underground giant pipeline will directly funnel hydrogen into the Olympic Village. It’s part of a bigger plan for Japan as a whole.
7. Artificial Meteor Light Shows
Space junk will not be a worry. Fake stars burn up upon reentry like real space projectiles. Real asteroid showers are unpredictable. This system could allow scientists to study projectile movement and temperature while they fly through Earth’s atmosphere.
8. More Maglev Trains
----------------
".. 8 Reasons Why the Tokyo Olympics Will Be the Most Futuristic .."
".. The first high-speed train in the world, it spurred similar technology to spread to Europe and other East Asian nations, paving the way for current maglev trains and, arguably, the Hyperloop. .."
".. Tokyo is one of the most futuristic, complex, and sophisticated cities .. busiest train station .. second most Fortune 500 companies .. tallest tower .. busiest urban transport system .."
".. 1. A Village of Robots
Enough to populate a small village, which is exactly what the Olympics committee wants to do. .."
".. “robot village” will be in Tokyo’s Odaiba neighborhood, which will also be home to the athletes’ Olympic Village. .. Many of the 920,000 foreigners expected to populate Tokyo per day during the Olympics can call for nearby robots to help with language translation, directions, or beckon for transportation—transportation that itself could be robotic, self-driving cars. .."
".. 2. Instant Language Translation
The English skill level in Japan, compared to other advanced nations, is low. And while the number of foreigners learning to speak Japanese has skyrocketed in the last decade, there’re still significant language and cultural barriers that tourists run into. .."
".. It covers English, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese so far and is expected to accommodate over 10 languages by 2020. The software will be available on computers and phones .."
".. making a palm-sized gadget worn around the neck that’ll translate Japanese into 10 languages for the thousands of visitors .. provide visitors with a smartphone app that scans Japanese signs and translates them on the spot. .."
".. 3. Self-Driving Taxis
.. Google, Apple, Uber —plus car manufacturers like BMW, Toyota, and Mercedes are all scrambling to be the first .."
".. 4. TV Broadcasts in Glorious 8K
NHK plans to air the Olympic Games in tantalizingly detailed 8K high definition. .."
".. NHK has been at the definitive global forefront of 8K development, having started researching it way back in 1995. .."
".. Sharp .. selling 8K TVs—at $125,000 a pop. .."
".. 5. Algae As a Fuel Source
.. Japan .. is eyeing it as an attractive energy alternate for the nuclear-nervous Fukushima region. .."
".. Algae has remarkable potential as an alternative energy source. It sucks in carbon dioxide and converts it into energy. It’s preferable to other green energies that are grown on land, like oil made from corn, because it can produce 60 times more oil per acre and is relatively easy to grow. .."
".. Boeing aims to offer algae flights on .. major Japanese airlines for the millions of tourists expected to visit Japan in 2020. Which is good, since algae can cut carbon dioxide emissions by up to 70 percent, compared to petroleum fuels. .."
".. 6. Hydrogen-Powered Buses and Buildings
.. Japan is rolling out .. alternate energy .. global game-changer. .. hydrogen.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the Tokyo government plans to spend 40 billion yen ($330 million) in the next five years to improve hydrogen energy use leading up to the Olympics, making Japan a “Hydrogen Society.” When hydrogen gas mixes with oxygen in a fuel cell, it’s able to produce exhaust-free energy, just like water can. .."
".. 7. Artificial Meteor Light Shows
.. wants to shower streams of manmade meteors across the sky, which could make for the most badass opening ceremony ever.
ALE .. team is working with Japanese universities to design a cube-shaped microsatellite that’ll be launched into space and, in the world’s first project of its kind, shoot out tiny, inch-wide spheres made out of a secret material. Friction .. will cause them to glow while racing at five miles per second. .."
".. wants them to mimic asteroid shower patterns that are rare in nature. .."
".. 8. Even More Maglev Trains
.. magnetic levitation. .."
".. Earlier this year, Japan broke a land speed record for rail with its maglev train at 374 miles per hour. .."
".. At the 1912 Olympics in Stockholm, electronic timepieces were used on a mass scale for the first time, to measure athlete performance. The event’s huge international crowd also prompted development of the world’s first PA system.
The 1936 Summer Games in Berlin took advantage of recent developments in camera and television technology, making them the sports event to be broadcast on TV. At the 2008 Beijing Olympics, an IBM supercomputer helped predict weather and pollution. .."

Brazil to reduce deforestation and boost renewable energy

Brazil will cut its carbon emissions 37% by 2025
Brazil is the first major developing country to pledge an absolute reduction in greenhouse gas emissions for a foreseen global pact against climate change. Brazil has pledged to cut carbon emissions 37% by 2025. It has pledged to reduce deforestation and boost renewable energy. The country has achieved significant emissions cuts in the past decade primarily because of efforts to reduce deforestation in the Amazon. Environmentalists have applauded Brazil for taking absolute reduction targets. Brazil aims to get 66% of its electricity from hydropower and 23% from other renewable sources including wind, solar and biomass.
----------------
".. The world’s seventh biggest greenhouse gas polluter said it would cut its emissions by 37% by 2025 from 2005 levels by reducing deforestation and boosting the share of renewable sources in its energy mix. It also indicated an “intended reduction” of 43% by 2030. .."
".. the US has pledged to reduce its emissions by 26-28% between 2005 and 2025. .."
".. The targets would reduce Brazilian emissions from the current level of 1.6bn tonnes a year to 1.5bn tonnes by 2025 and 1.3bn tonnes by 2030, said .."

U.S. Global Development Policy and Agenda 2030

The American President's Commitment to Global Development - Building on Over a Half Century of U.S. ProAction
World leaders adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (“2030 Agenda”). This sets out a global development vision and priorities for the next 15 years and should bring about meaningful change and progress, US included. There is pledge to end extreme poverty and prioritizing policies and investments that have long-term, transformative impact and are sustainable. Areas of health, food security, and energy are being generously funded. In the United States, the adoption of the 2030 Agenda coincides with a growing unbiased consensus on the importance of global development, and American philanthropy.
MDGs (Millenium Development Goals) have made remarkable gains and that is optimistic for the future. The 2030 Agenda builds on the MDGs, and as the successor framework to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), follows the July 2015 adoption of the Addis Ababa Action Agenda (Addis Agenda), a roadmap to help countries identify, attract and access diverse sources of development finance to realize the 2030 Agenda.
Building on the creation of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) and the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) under President George W. Bush, President Obama released the first U.S. Global Development Policy in 2010. Global development was elevated as a core pillar of American power, and recognized as a strategic, economic, and moral imperative for the United States.
The United States claims it is proactive in exercising global leadership that will be pivotal to achieving the 2030 Agenda in the following areas:
Global health and Global Health Security Agenda
    Food security and nutrition
    Power Africa
    Ending extreme poverty
Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women and Girls
    Climate Change and Resilience
    Education
    Promoting open government
Catalyzing private investment and other sources of financing
    Spurring innovation
Mitigating and responding to conflict and disaster
The US says that it realises that no government or country can deliver on the promise of this ambitious agenda single-handedly. It is incumbent upon all stakeholders to work together in partnership to contribute to a sustained global effort over the next 15 years.

Los Angeles, Hamburg, Rome, Budapest, Paris bid for 2024 Summer Olympics

1 American and 4 European Cities bid for 2024 Olympics - selection in September 2017 in Lima, Peru.
Los Angeles, Hamburg, Rome, Budapest & Paris are competing to host the 2024 Summer Olympic Games. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) will decide the winner in Lima, Peru, in September 2017. The Canadian City of Toronto has pulled out of the bidding.
The 33rd Olympic Games candidates
Los Angeles, USA: The American bidder promises to "put on a show that only LA can do for the greatest athletes on the face of the earth". The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum would then become the first stadium to host three Olympic Games.
Hamburg, Germany: The German City proposes a carbon-neutral Olympics with venues within walking distance of each other. Hamburg says it is Germany's sportiest city.
Paris, France: The French Capital Paris wants to showcase the sports in iconic landmarks by hosting in them. Some of them are Siene for open-water swimming; Eiffel Tower for triathlon; Palace of Versailles for cycling time-trial finish.
Rome, Italy: Italian Capital Rome is planning to bid around the Stadio Olimpico, and is home to the city's biggest football clubs, Roma and Lazio.
Budapest, Hungary: East European Hungary has never hosted the Olympics. The Hungarian Capital Budapest has been planning this latest Olympic bid since 2008 and says that it has hosted many world championships in recent years.
Read analysis by BBC Sport's Correspondent / Reporter in the page accessed by the url given below.
Both Paris and LA have twice hosted the Games. Paris hosted in 1924 and 100 years repeat is sounding well!, and / but then The IOC made no secret of its desire for an American bid this time around, with commercial differences between US Olympic leaders and the IOC defused. Rome wants to bring back after 1960, and Hamburg and Budapest seek the First Time.
------------
"... IOC president Thomas Bach said his organisation will conduct "confidential polls" to judge public support in each of the five bidding cities.
"The IOC wants to send the athletes only in cities where they are welcome," said Bach. "This is why public support for a bid is so important." ..."
...
"... Right now, all three will probably be considered outsiders, but so were London and Rio at the same stage of the 2012 and 2016 campaigns, and we all remember how those contests panned out.
Much can, and probably will, change throughout what is a complicated bidding process. "
