Brazil to reduce deforestation and boost renewable energy

Brazil will cut its carbon emissions 37% by 2025
Brazil is the first major developing country to pledge an absolute reduction in greenhouse gas emissions for a foreseen global pact against climate change. Brazil has pledged to cut carbon emissions 37% by 2025. It has pledged to reduce deforestation and boost renewable energy. The country has achieved significant emissions cuts in the past decade primarily because of efforts to reduce deforestation in the Amazon. Environmentalists have applauded Brazil for taking absolute reduction targets. Brazil aims to get 66% of its electricity from hydropower and 23% from other renewable sources including wind, solar and biomass.

".. The world’s seventh biggest greenhouse gas polluter said it would cut its emissions by 37% by 2025 from 2005 levels by reducing deforestation and boosting the share of renewable sources in its energy mix. It also indicated an “intended reduction” of 43% by 2030. .."
".. the US has pledged to reduce its emissions by 26-28% between 2005 and 2025. .."
".. The targets would reduce Brazilian emissions from the current level of 1.6bn tonnes a year to 1.5bn tonnes by 2025 and 1.3bn tonnes by 2030, said .."

NASA's 1st Manned Flight to Planet Mars in April 2023

Crewed Orion Space Capsule
The first manned space journey to Mars - They are working towards 2021 August but that may not happen. It is a crewed sojourn, is being called Exploration Mission 2 (EM-2). They say that Orion is a first key player in allowing moving of human presence out of low Earth orbit as per NASA's Human Exploration and Operations Directorate. There is another mission SLS - that of a crewed deep space exploration. This one is projected after 2018. NASA also wants an asteroid visit by 2025. The National Aeronautics and Space Exploration of the United States of America was slated to spend $6.77 billion to get Orion ready for EM-2 and through to the end. Barack Obama was being blamed for delaying.
----------------
".. The first crewed flight of NASA's Orion spacecraft, which is being built to help humanity explore Mars and other distant destinations, may be delayed by two years, until 2023, agency officials announced .."
".. NASA is developing Orion, which can support a crew of four for up to 21 days, as well as a megarocket called the Space Launch System (SLS) to enable the crewed exploration of deep space. The capsule will get astronauts to space and back to Earth, and it will carry them on missions in Earth-moon space. (Long journeys, such as the trek to Mars, will feature habitat modules for crewmembers to live in.) .."

".. Orion blasted off for the first time riding a United Launch Alliance Delta IV Heavy rocket on a successful unmanned mission called Exploration Flight Test 1 (EFT-1). .. an uncrewed Orion winging around the moon on the weeklong Exploration Mission 1 (EM-1). .."
".. Orion will carry astronauts .. main goals include making sure that the capsule's crew systems are ready to perform in deep space. The next flight after that, Exploration Mission 3 (EM-3), .. may send astronauts out to rendezvous with a chunk of a near-Earth asteroid that a robotic probe has delivered to lunar orbit. .."

Electric Car from Apple in 2019

Cars have morphed to rolling software platforms
The Car Project is called Titan. Engineers have been hired, some from Tesla. Cars have morphed from horsepower-focused machines to rolling software platforms. The car is now a mobile device? :-o
----------------
".. Apple is speeding up its plans to manufacture and ship an electric car in four years, According to The Wall Street Journal. The report says Apple is moving forward after investigating options for more than a year, as well as recently meeting with government officials in California. The report also says that Apple's first vehicles may not be autonomous. .."
".. be in keeping with the company's often-repeated approach of refining already existing products, frequently redefining those very categories as it did with portable music players (iPods), smartphones (iPhones) and tablets (iPads). .."
".. Many auto and tech analysts have posited that in the near future urban centers could give way to sensor-driven autonomous vehicles as a way to reduce pollution and free up lucrative real estate currently given over the cars. .."
