Brazil will cut its carbon emissions 37% by 2025
Brazil is the first major developing country to pledge an absolute reduction in greenhouse gas emissions for a foreseen global pact against climate change. Brazil has pledged to cut carbon emissions 37% by 2025. It has pledged to reduce deforestation and boost renewable energy. The country has achieved significant emissions cuts in the past decade primarily because of efforts to reduce deforestation in the Amazon. Environmentalists have applauded Brazil for taking absolute reduction targets. Brazil aims to get 66% of its electricity from hydropower and 23% from other renewable sources including wind, solar and biomass.----------------
